Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion

A sense of belonging, a sense of inclusion, inculcates within us a feeling of satisfaction, happiness, and emotional & psychological safeness. It is what keeps us strongly connected and close-knit with our current space, work, lifestyle, and life.

Speaking for the majority of our population, if I may, we spend most of our time at our workplaces. Right? Hence, it becomes imperative for our workspace to induce an aura of belongingness among all, irrespective of the minor irrelevant aspects that, for some, supposedly define an individual.

What is DEI?

Diversity

Let’s consider a group - any social group - people forming a sports team / a school or college classroom / occupants of a society / employees working together….

Are all the people constituting any such group the same? Nope - they are not even similar!! This is because we all are different, unique in our own ways, thereby contributing to the beautiful concept of diversity. It is this diversity that gives colors, infuses enthusiasm, and snatches away the monotony of any place.

Therefore, Appreciate Diversity!

Equity

Again let’s consider the same group. You cannot be forbidden from playing if you belong to a different race, no teacher can deny teaching you based on your gender, no flat owner can charge double rent from you if you follow another religion, and no organization can treat you differently for any such reason! This is what contributes to equity - every (diverse) individual deserves fair treatment, opportunity, access, growth, and basic respect.

Therefore, Practice Equity!

Inclusion

While one must feel if we appreciate diversity and practice equity, inclusion seeps along. However, that’s not always the case. Each individual must be valued and experience a sense of belonging to feel included. This simply cannot happen by setting a set of norms or values at the organizational level but by seeing the same implemented at granular levels. It is the feeling of empathy practiced at every level that can ensure inclusiveness.

Therefore, Ensure Inclusion!

With all said & done, we believe that we as an institute enable the feeling of belongingness among all. Nothing to brag about; however, the same led us to the GPTW certification, an evaluation that primarily focuses on the DEI practices.

The sustained and perpetual upkeep of such values and critical guidelines is what is essential & most challenging. We at Venus will continually strive to maintain & enhance our value-driven culture for our present and potential workforce.
