Cancer is a disease characterized by the uncontrolled growth and spread of abnormal cells. It is the second most common cause of death worldwide and is one of the leading causes of morbidity. Its prevalence is growing despite availability of latest and bespoke medicines. Some of the major reasons being delayed detection besides very high systemic toxicity associated with chemotherapy. Although development of customized gene based therapies or biological solutions available for treatment, yet most of these are either out of reach of common man or not readily available in developing countries like African and Asian subcontinent. Therefore, the future lies in adopting technology based approach for targeted delivery of diagnostics and therapeutics.
